It's my birthday soon! So I wrote a poem about the dinner I had to celebrate with my family. In my opinion, it's pretty Larkinesque, but I'll leave that up to y'all to decide. Not in terms of form.

Sitting at dinner is the worst.

The crowd before me chats away

Inconsequential nothings fade

into the din.

A father's boister bothers me

More than my brother next to me

Complaining, he's not the centre

of attention.

But what's to do? I must endure

Today, the celebration day,

a gathering of family

for my birthday.
