“How can I make this work,” I thought as I finally relaxed in the cool green chair after a rough morning.

From the splashing of mud by the beat-up pickup truck to falling three or four times walking into the coffee shop, I thought nothing would be able to turn my day around.

Everything was going wrong until I landed on this chair. This was the most comfortable chair I ever had the pleasure of relaxing in. Nothing could take this moment away.

Sometimes I feel like I am being dragged through life, my partner across from me an omnipotent dictator who pokes and prods me to always look my best. It took me a few months to realize I am only a puppet being used for my partner's personal gain. But yet, I cannot escape.

I cannot move and I realize I was never able to.

Escaping from this relationship is not and was never an option.

I am a blank slate waiting for a purpose to be transcribed on.

I am empty but warm.

Susan looked down at me, picked me up off the chair, put me on and walked out into the frigid autumn air.
