How often we choose, to love and lose

And bury our lies, beneath half truths

Piling on each and every day, regrets of words we long to say

How often it seems, we’re forced to wait, for each and every single break

Within our shattered hearts to heal, before love comes again to steal

Yet another tattered piece away, from the mess of shards we hope to stay

Intact at least for one last day

Before love comes and plucks away, again another sad excuse, which we put forth for no good use

But to maybe keep at bay, the pain of love for one more day

How often we find ourselves in tears, as each new love digs through our fears

Throwing them all into our face, as panic sets in without a brace

To make an even bigger mess, of the shards still left within our chests

How often it seems, we never learn

From each and every slow made burn

To keep away from love and lies, which drain in drops through heart sore eyes

How often we choose to crash and burn

For useless love, our hearts all yearn
