For an aircraft mechanic failure is not an option, because the time that an aircraft spends on the ground and out of action can be effectively translated to lives lost, or lives saved on the ground. This poem brings you into their world, and shows just a little of the uncompromising, relentless tenacity of their profession.

As those afield sleep restless nights;
None will yield, all will fight.

By will, through strength, through battered light;
Our Brothers, our Sisters, endure the fight.

This broken thing, this shattered light;
Unspoken rage, as day turns night.

Our time, our speed, our every breath,
Brings them closer to their death.

I will not fail, I have no right;
Never alone, amidst the night.

I pledge myself, to their plight;
Until their Guardian, may take flight.
