A poem I wrote for my mother many years ago but yet I feel as if she's still going through this present day.

Mother, are you happy with the man by your side?

Mother, is there joy filling up your life?

Mother, are you pleased and mostly ever glad?

Does he treat you well, better than my dad?

Mommy, you're not happy, I can see it in your eyes,

I hear it in your voice as I listen to you cry.

I've seen you anguished and in despair,

mother, I'm here, I truly care.

You've gone through sadness and through deceit,

and most it's been because of me.

But I have awakened and I do lament,

hurting you I never meant.

There's something missing in that heart,

your husband's coldness tears you apart.

But look, I'm here and I always will,

your unhappiness I must now kill.

Mother, I'm older, you see, I've grown,

but it's not enough to be on my own.

That's it you've suffered, that's it, no more!

Where is the strength you had before?

"Does he still love me?" is what you're wondering,

he's been so distant, your calls not answering.

Despite of that you wish he would not go,

you're just like me; afraid of being alone.

I know you never had my entire support,

but your happiness to me matters even more.

I've heard you wail as if you're unhappy,

Mother, is it him?

Mother, are you happy?
