Moonrise.

The sun is setting in the sky as the moon ascends,

lightness now is fading as the day comes to an end.

The sky, it is now turning dark, a blue-black enveloping shroud,

that stretches as far as I can see, not broken by a cloud.

The moon is rising swiftly, bringing with it it’s silver glow;

it’s telling us the night is here for we need to know.

This darkness is my favorite time, a softly velvet cloak

that lets the voices whisper, although no one’s really spoke.

I’ll let the dark embrace me and I’ll stare up at the moon

knowing that it will be gone in moments way too soon.

This landscape now is silver hued, it’s glittery and cool,

a dreamscape I can wallow in as though I am a fool.

There’s magic in this moonrise, I can feel it’s power now;

it brings you so much closer but I don’t understand how.

We share the same sun as well, but when the moon’s above

that’s when I feel closest to you, and it’s that feeling that I love.
