1...2...3

Your feet hit the pavement

In a soothing, steady rhythm

The air is icy cold

In the most beautiful way

You breath it in deeply

1...2...3

It feels perfectly wonderful

As it enters your lungs;

Sweet, and clear, and clean.

A mist covers the entire park.

Shrouding everything in mystery.

1...2...3

The sun has not yet risen.

You are alone in the pale moonlight.

Surrounded by icy shadows and pure, sweet air.

Your path circles a vast lake.

It's surface as smooth as darkest glass.

1...2...3

Perhaps it is a dance floor

where only the weightless souls of the dead,

swirl across the mirrored stars.

Their unseen feet, leaving not a ripple.Slow, measured steps paired with the sweetest music.

1...2...3

You long to join the solemn waltz,

to glide across the reflected diamonds.

The score you chose as you left today,

an almost bittersweet lullaby,

brings the ghosts alive before your eyes.

1...2...3

Gentlemen and ladies in an elegant masquerade.

Translucent shades of white, blue, purple.

Spirits sparkling, glowing in the silver mist.

Stepping, turning, spinning and floating.

Icy water freezes your feet.

1...2...3

You open your eyes in shock.

The treacherous sun has started to rise.

The red, gold light burns away the glorious mist.

Slowly, the ghost fade away into nothing.

You step out of the lake and turn away.

1...2...3

Your steady feet are carrying you home.

You feel no sadness at missing the dance,

for you know that one night,

you will be part of that ghostly waltz.

One of the spirits spinning across the watery stars.

1...2...3
