“You ask me what I want? It’s actually pretty simple. If you haven’t noticed, I’m a vampire for fuck sake.” She said in frustration as she shook her head.

“So, what do you want me to do about it?” I asked in confusion. I didn’t understand what she would want from me.

“I want you to help me kill the bastard that turned me.” She said bluntly.

“Why would I help you do this?” I asked her, “You do realize this probably means attacking a coven of vampires just to get one guy, right?”

“Look. I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse.” She replied with a seductive wink. Her eyes met mine and I believed her but even so I wasn’t sure how to go about this.

“What kind offer are we talking here?” I asked as a smirk curved onto my lips. I grabbed her by the waist and flipped her over so that I was on top. She smiled but quickly shoved me off and we both stood up.

“I’ll do you a solid. I will do a favor for you in return. I don’t do that for just anybody, you know. So, you better feel privileged.” She answered.

“So, what stops you from turning on me once we kill this bat?” I asked while I considered her request.

“I have my honor. I promise you I will not attack you once the job is done but once we go our separate ways, the hunt is back on. Deal?” She asked. Somehow I believed this….hunter.

“Okay I’ll do it. Do you have any clue where they are hiding?” I asked in return.

“I was hoping you would know. Hence why I asked you.” She said as she grabbed her forehead, “I only hunt mutts like you, not the blood suckers.” I growled at her comment while she chuckled, “So where do we go?”

“Well the only place I know of is abandoned building just outside of town.” I explained, “I’ve seen the bats come and go from there, so I know there is probably a nest there. So, we could check it out at least.”

“Yea let’s do that.” The hunter agreed.

“So, what’s your name?” I asked her. I was curious about the woman behind the mask.

“You can call me Kas.” She said as she pulled down her mask to reveal her face.

“Oh, you bitch. Are you fucking kidding me right now?” I shouted. My blood began to boil. Kasula Bellrose was the hunter chasing me the whole time. I had been training her for months. How did I not catch wind of her sooner?

“Don’t you start that shit with me. It’s part of the job.” Kas lashed back out.

“No no no. This cannot be happening right now! Fuck man. Okay take a deep breath.” I said aloud as I inhale deeply and exhale, “Okay. So, what are we going to do?”

“That’s still up to you. My offer still stands.” She stated.

“Okay, fine. I’ll do it. But this doesn’t mean that I like you, bat.” I said as I took another deep breath.

“The feeling is mutual, pup.” She replied. I snarled in reply. She simply laughed at me. What a bitch!

“Well, how do we contact each other?” I asked. “What’s your number? I’ll text you or something.”

“Is that how you get a girl’s number? First the insult, then the direct approach.” She replied with a sexy smirk.

“It worked on you, didn’t it?” I answered quickly.

“I guess it did, eh. Who would have thought I’d be willingly giving my phone number over to a damned mutt?” She answered back. I was really getting sick of her fucking dog references. I had to figure out what stung her and ‘bat’ wasn’t. Even so, I took her number and she took mine.

“So, when will you contact me?” She asked.

“Never!” I said obnoxiously.

“Seriously.” She replied, her eyebrow raised in annoyance.

“In a few days. I need to let my shoulder heal up in case you forgot. Cough cough.” I said as I looked down to my injured shoulder.

“Yea yea. I got you. Talk to you in a few days.” She replied with a cocky grin. We both turned and went our own separate ways.

I just barely managed to scrap away from that situation. When I turned back to see if she was still in sight, she had vanished. I started my long walk home but about half way home I realized something was wrong again. That little shit stain was still following me. Why wouldn’t she just leave me alone? I grabbed my phone from my pocket and decided to shoot her a text.

To Kas – Are you following me again?

From Kas – Nope. I’m back at my place. Why do you ask?

To Kas – I am being followed. Could it be another hunter?

From Kas – Highly unlikely. I haven’t even reported anything to my guild in a while.

To Kas – Then who the hell is following me?”

From Kas – I’m just fucking with you, numb nuts.  Of course, it’s me. You haven’t left my sight since we parted ways.

To Kas – Stop it.

From Kas – No.

This crazy bitch was infuriating me. I needed to lose her and I needed to do it now. I didn’t want her knowing where I lived. I shifted into my wolf form once again and ran as fast as I could. I ran down the street and took a few extra turns, the scenic route home. I finally felt like I’d lost her when I arrived home but a moment later I received another text.

From Kas – Home sweet home

To Kas – Fuck. Do you want to come in since you are here anyway?

“Don’t mind if I do.” Kas said as she jumped through the window of my living room. That would have been quite the feat since I was three floors up but she probably just used the fire escape.

“So, do you want a drink? I could use a drink.” I asked her.

“Sure, what do ya got?” She asked.

“Rum and coke, sound good?” I replied.

“Sure.” She said. I reached for the fridge door and opened it. The rum bottle and the coke bottle were next to each other, almost like they were meant to be together. I grabbed the two bottles and then a couple of glasses. I poured the drinks and walked out of the kitchen. I plopped down on the couch and flick on the TV.

“So, is this how one prepares for a vampire hunt? Doesn’t seem very effect.” Kas teased as she stood in the living room with her drink.

“Look are you going to sit or what? You’re making me nervous, just standing there and shit.” I asked before I took a sip of my drink.

“Fine.” She replied before she found a spot on the opposite side of the couch to sit.

“I just need a bit of rest. In case you forgot, I have a gunshot wound. I even have a few stitches.” I explained to her.

“You got stitches? Lemme see ‘em.” She said without even regarding the rest of what I told her.

“You really want to see it?” I asked. She nodded and I stood up from the couch. I pulled my shirt over my head and revealed my tight, toned body. Only I wasn’t looking so hot right now. My body was covered in bruises and half healed scrapes. I leaned over to her to show her my shoulder.

“Gnarly, dude but there is only five.” She replied.

“It may only be five, but it’s all you, baby.” I replied back, “So, I’m going to watch a movie before I got to bed. You gonna stay the night or…?”

“Yea I may as well. So, comedy?” she asked.

“Yea, sounds good.” I grabbed the remote and flipped through the stations until I found something suitable. It was one of those stoner action comedies. To be honest it was quite hilarious and both of us laughed the whole way through it. I checked the clock and it was nearly 4am.

“So, you can crash on the couch tonight if you want. I’ll grab you a pillow and blanket.” I said after the movie was over.

“Alright, thanks.” She replied.

I stood up and walked down the hall to my linen closet and found the extra pillows and blankets that I kept. I had no idea why I kept them. I never had guests over. This was a first in ages, so I was kind of at a loss. Either way, I came back to the living room and she was already laying down and passed out. I smiled. It wasn’t often that I had a pretty girl sleeping in my home without the intent to rip out her heart. I walked over to her and gently lifted her head, placing the pillow in its place. Then I covered her with a blanket and walked back to my room. I was beaten, bruised and exhausted. My last few days had been rough but I knew it wouldn’t take long before I was back to tip top shape. I laid back on my bed and pulled the covers over. I laid there for a little while contemplating my situation. What had I gotten myself into? I agreed to help take down a bat nest and help a hunter. What had my life become? Fuck it, none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered to me at this moment was sleep and soon enough I passed out.

I was awoken to the annoying sensation of somebody tapping my forehead. I opened my eyes to see Kas.

“’Bout fuckin’ time you get up.” She said sounding annoyed.

“Do all of you hunters get up so early?” I asked as I rubbed my eyes and sat up.

“Early? It’s after noon now. So, wake your ass up, sunshine.” She demanded.

“Alright, alright. Give me a minute.” I said as I turned and sat on the edge of the bed. I looked to my digital clock on the nightstand. It was nearly 2pm. Fuck, I didn’t mean to sleep that late. Oh well, shit happens. She would just have to live with it. I stood up and grabbed my deodorant, rubbing it on. I slept in my clothes so I didn’t even bother getting dressed.

“So, what is our plan?” She asked.

“The only thing I can think of, is to scout out the only nest I know of and work out a plan from there.” I explained. She seemed to ponder this before she replied.

“Alright then, where is this nest?” she asked.

“It’s just outside of town. I’ll lead you there.” I replied before I walked past her and out of my apartment through the front door. She followed quickly behind me. Once we were outside I shifted into my wolf form and began to run. She ran alongside of me with surprising ease. We ran and ran and ran until we reached the edge of town and the edge of the forest. There was an old abandoned warehouse building that I knew had to be filled with bats.

We scouted around the building and much to my surprise, they had not a single guard posted. This made things slightly easier. As we approached the building, I could smell he bats. This was clearly a nest.

“He’s here. I can feel it.” Kas whispered to me.

“How do you know?” I asked.

“I just said I could feel it, were you not listening? There is a draw here that I feel.” She explained.

“So, what do we do?” I asked. We needed a real plan.

“Let’s go in there and kill his ass.” Kas suggested. Real nice, Kas. Real nice. Go in there and get ourselves killed. Great plan.

“How about we don’t go and die? Maybe we wait for him to come out and jump him.” I suggested.

“Okay, fine. We can go the puss way too.” She said as she insulted me. God damn, why was she always such a bitch?

“I know of a night club in town that the bats like to hang around. I’d bet we could find him there.” I replied.

“How would that be any different than attacking him here?” She asked.

“Well I figured I would wait outside, you could go inside. Find him, then use your….” I paused for a moment and eyed her up and down, “ASSets to lure him outside. Where I could grab him and you could proceed with the beheading.” I explained.

“You’re a pig! But a clever pig. I think that will work. I’m good using my charms to get what I want from men.” She said, slightly disgusted but intrigued nonetheless.

“Well, it’s what I do. Either way lets head back until night fall. Then I’ll take you to that club I mentioned.” I suggested. She nodded in agreement and we walked back to my apartment. The walk seemed longer than the walk out there but maybe that was just my nerves.

When we arrived, we sat down on the couch. I could smell the bat as I sat down. Its odor wafted into my nostrils.

“Hey, so what’s your plan here? You do realize it will be a while before we need to leave, right?” I asked her.

“What is this? Are you asking me to leave?” She questioned with a slightly pouty face.

“Yes, I’m asking you to leave. I need some alone time before We tackle the world.” I replied, “I’m a lone wolf, remember?”

“Fine then. I’ll leave. I will text you by 11pm though.” Kas replied as she stood up from the couch and walked over to the window. She looked back at me and smiled before jumping outside. I could swear she was crazy. Why couldn’t she just use the front door like a normal person.

Finally, I was alone. For the first time in what felt like days, I was alone. I laid down on the couch. Her bat scent still lingering. It was quite intoxicating. For a while I just laid there and took in her smell. I know it sounds kind of creepy but I couldn’t help it. Either way I fell asleep on the couch.
