The Wanderer

You had to go and do it,

You had to go and stray,

You had to go and lose yourself

For five nights and four days.

Did you wander way to far

When you went to roam,

Unable to locate where you were

And make your way back home.

The fields there are so many,

And there are barns around here too;

Did you get yourself shut up somewhere?

Is that what happened to you?

I’ve been out there searching,

With your brothers and your mom,

We were on the verge of giving up

Fearing what your fate ’d become.

But then your Mom, she found you

And she brought you straight back home,

I know that you have not been fed

For you are skin and bone.

Do yourself and me a favour

Try to stay just that bit near;

Don’t you go a-wandering

For at least another year!
