A shanty.
Whenever our children ask where we be, tell them we're to sea.

We swapped and we fiddled

On our journey for the shore!

Them waves come crashing

All at sea for miles a ‘fore!

Our long boats be gone

The rum is all swilled

Our Cap’n stands atop the quarterdeck

Striking mad!  Filled to the gills!

Over and down

We ride the bitch waves!

Beat on the hull!  Rag on the sails!

Ye can’t stop us when

We’re riding to port!  Hard to starboard!

At a rate of knots we sail

Striking hard through the squalls!

The crew below!  The Cap’n above!

The navigat’r on his knees!

With an albatross around our necks

We sway in our bunks ‘til we spill on the deck!

This may be our night, lads!  This may be our night!

Shake your hands, embrace like brothers and say your goodbyes!

Over and down

We ride the bitch waves!

Beat on the hull!  Rag on the sails!

Ye can’t stop us when

We’re riding to port!  Hard to starboard!

We tried to make it as the crow flies

But the storm has caught us in her eye

If ever a speech could make a man cry

It be the one b’fore he dies!

Our ship fared us well, but now she will rest

We’ll keep strong ‘til our gravely end

Whenever our childr’n ask where we be

Tell ‘em we’re to the sea!

Over and down

We ride the bitch waves!

Beat on the hull!  Rag on the sails!

‘Til you’ve keeled us in your gale!

Ye can’t stop us when

We’re riding hard to the bot’om!  To Davy Jones’ locker!
