Just a simple, melancholy poem I wrote. Designed to be sorrowful and joyful at the same time.

I gaze now at the blue night sky,

With her many shining stars

That dance around her in the night

Away from our world so far.

I look up to the heavens bright,

A sad smile on my face,

Imagining how you'd look up there

Full of kindly grace.

All those years you loved me,

Though I was a lonely boy.

You looked at me with smiling eyes,

The eyes that saw me with joy.

Now you are gone, but I do not weep

When I remember you.

For as you left, you shed tears of joy

For all that we've been through.

I sit in the tree we always climbed

Where we wished upon a star

And dared to look into the heavens

And forget our earthly scars.

Someday, I'll join you in the sky

And we'll gaze upon the world.

We'll remember how we loved it

When we were just a boy and girl.

You gave me once that promise

That you'd never leave my side.

And indeed that promise rang true

For you are still my guide.

It was so hard to say farewell

When you looked at me that way.

But there's no reason to be sad -

I'll be there with you -
