I was laying on my bed staring at the window, the early morning sun sent knife like rays onto my body. My alarm clock stated it was 9:00 am, however it was always an hour behind. I longed to lay on my bed for longer but a brisk knock at my door denied my wish. “Leave me alone to die in my room.” I called, I knew who it was. My door suddenly opened and Andrew burst in. “The sun is shining and the birds are singing meaning you need to get out of your room!” He was loud, I hated it. “The sun burnt out and the birds died so I’m staying in my room” I kind of wanted to be productive and get to work on my photography assignment. “I resurrected the birds!” He screamed. I groaned continuously. Andrew was becoming impatient and irritated. “If you don’t leave your room within ten seconds I will play the bagpipes.” I knew he didn’t have bagpipes but I got up anyway.
He followed me through to the kitchen where we started to make sandwiches for everyone in the house. Anikan entered the room looking at the floor, he seemed agitated in some way. “What’s wrong Anikan?” I asked with a worried tone. “You’re not making pancakes.” He said in a sulky manner. Andrew seemed annoyed at his remark so he threw a sandwich at him. “There’s your sandwich you lazy git!” He screamed. Anikan looked up, a small flare appeared in his eyes. “Andrew! It’s on!” Anikan grabbed the pile of sandwiches I just made. “Hey! Anikan don’t you dare! I’m warning you!” I yelled with a stern tone. Yet again the flare appeared in his eye and he chucked one of the cheese sandwiches at Andrew, hitting him in the eye. “ANIKAN! I’LL GET YOU BACK TEN TIMES HARDER!” I ducked behind the counter after a chocolate spread sandwich flew my way. I did not want my favourite shirt to be ruined. After rolling across the floor I grabbed a handful of spoons that were on the counter. “I NEED HELP IN HERE! ANOTHER SANDWICH WAR HAS STARTED!” I screamed. Andrew backed up against the doorway as Anikan held a piece of bread covered in jam, chocolate spread, mustard and egg. “Anikan we can be friends right?” He looked extremely worried about the events. “Let me think about that Andrew… NOPE!” Anikan tossed the monstrous piece of bread at Andrew but he ducked quickly… just as Kailey entered the room. The jam and mustard exploded when it met her face. Anikan and Andrew stood still with shocked expressions glued onto their faces. I sprung up from the desk and through a spoon where Andrew was… however I didn’t see Kailey enter the room and it hit her in the side of the head. It made a clinking sound as it fell to the floor.  The piece of bread fell and Kailey wiped the mustardy jam mixture away from her face. I ducked behind the counter and rolled along the floor behind the sofa in the next room. I could hear Kailey screaming at Andrew and Anikan, it made me chuckle.
An hour after the incident everything was cleaned up. Swany continued to glare at Andrew and Anikan, they seemed so tense. Kane and Jaxi entered the room and grabbed their sandwiches, we all sat down in the living room and ate our lunch with the TV on in the background. “Lilitha is helping Amanda look for new softball equipment.” Jaxi said whilst chewing on a cheese sandwich. Kane was scrolling through snapchat on his phone and Andrew started talking about the Nintendo switch version two. Everything seemed so right, like nothing could go wrong. It was all so calm and so normal. Riva burst into the room. “SORRY I WAS WORKING ON MY SCIENCE PROJECT!” She screamed as she grabbed a plate with a sandwich on and sat down. “I finished that yesterday” I said smirking at her. She scowled at me then took a big bite out of her sandwich.
That’s when it happened. Emergency broadcast system could be read along the TV. “Th-this is new.” Andrew said staring at the TV. The words were read out by a robotic voice. “This is not a test, this is your emergency broadcast system announcing the removal of all laws within the globe. All weapons are allowed and all crimes are permitted except the murder of the country leaders and their family. This event will end in two years. You have two hours to prepare” I sat there motionless, everything became a blur. “WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO?!” Everyone looked at Andrew. “IM BEING SERIOUS WHAT THE HELL DO WE DO?!” Kailey got up and started pacing, Jaxi hid her face in her hands and everyone else stared at one another. “WE NEED TO LEAVE NOW!” Riva said quickly getting to her feet. “We need to stay calm, after all this is probably a prank! Andrew seriously don’t prank us like this!” Somehow the words that were coming out of Kailey’s mouth didn’t seem to help the situation. It all felt too real. Andrew shook his head, it was not a prank. “OH MY GOD, WE’RE GOING TO DIE!” Kane said. Sweat trailed down my forehead, we needed a plan that would get us somewhere safe. “We need to sort out a plan!” Anikan shouted almost reading my mind. Everyone was listening however no one seemed to aware of the words coming out of Anikan’s mouth. “We each have 20 minutes to pack our own belongings. It must all fit within a duffel bag. Then we grab anything we find that we can use as a weapon. GO GET YOUR BELONGINGS SORTED!” I shouted whilst running into my room. I grabbed a navy duffel bag underneath my bed and laid it on the covers. Terrible thoughts filled my head, could I trust my friends? The people I have known for 5 years now? Of course I could! Except I wasn’t certain at all, this changes everything.
