At first sight, I saw purity as yourself

Untouched somehow by the world, you were candid and clean

It was then I noticed the first arrow, viciously sharp, embedded within my heart

And I realized, cupid had victoriously made his mark

I was stunned and bewitched beyond rationality

There was no questioning my actions; I vowed and sought to taint you

Such vile purity I could no longer stand

You became my obsession, my obligation, my disease

I do not regret craving you; I do not regret the madness of my desire

I would have you know, I only regret the season, the age, the time

All of which were out of my hands, entirely

I did only as was proper, was convenient, was absurd to good sense

And when the final arrow was shot, I did not care to see, when cupid had traitorously missed

It was from this point onwards I vowed to steal your heart, by all means permitted

It was of no great matter that you were a light, and I the dark

I cared not that you would destroy me

I only wished to possess yourself, and all your vain purity

I only wanted to be, your tragically beautiful decline

And when cupid missed your heart, I still considered you, as always

Just mine
