Taken In

I don’t know how you’ve managed it. It does not make the slightest sense to me. They all follow you, believe anything you say; they hang on to your every word! Why can’t they see it, the real you?

Such a carefully built facade, isn’t it. This respectability. You pretend to be so caring, so considerate; make out that you want what’s best for everyone when in fact the only thing you are interested in achieving is what is good for yourself.

You put on your mask and you smile and joke. It’s all handshakes and joviality, exchanges of pleasantries. Do you wield some kind of magic? Are you some kind of mass hypnotist that can build an illusion to fool everyone around you?

Make that almost everyone! I am not alone in seeing past this carefully constructed facade. There are others who have also seen that mask slip to reveal the truth underneath. We have seen the power-hungry egotist; the individual that would sacrifice anybody and everybody to fulfil his own desires.

Enjoy it while it’s there. I cannot believe that you will be able to maintain this act indefinitely. More and more people are going to slip out of your enchantment and see who you really are instead of this illusion you have so carefully constructed. More and more people will become deaf to your honeyed tones and will understand what you are really saying.

All it takes from us is patience; nothing more or less.
