He leans in and smiles at me.

I wonder what he would say if he knew there was white crud in the corner of his mouth.

I should let him know...

I subconsciously stick my tongue out and flick it to the side hoping he will do the same.

Pick up a damn napkin and wipe your mouth!

I see his gaze focused on my lips and I feel queasy. I internally plead with him to look up and realize what is plainly obvious.

Would it disturb you to know that I couldn't care less what you are saying right now?

Would it matter that even though I am flirting with you my heart is still hurting and in pieces?

If I fell to the floor in the middle of this coffee house and began weeping would you finally see?.......

He scrolls through his messages while I look down at the marred surface of the table. Watery brown rings that look like half aborted grins mock me. I dip my finger through them, smearing the lines into chaos.

Why do I always have to leave such a mess behind?
