It's times like these that I remember the iconic line, E.V.I.L.: Every Villain Is Lemons but this poem is not about villains but about lemons.

There's an old man on the street who is best known for being a sourpuss but what happens when we dive into his past and find out what made him into a sourpuss?

I wrote this poem for the challenge of lemons hosted by melanie.hart. I hope you enjoy!

Old Man Sourpuss rocked on his chair back and forth, forth and back.

The chair sqawked like a bird along with Old Man Sourpuss if you brought up his past.

You see, he has none for he doesn't remember

but he does remember it being in September.

Leaves fell,

rain smelled.

The two newlyweds skipped down the street;

happy faces to greet.

They would say that they were happy,

they would say that they were clamly

until that one fateful day.

She told him that she would return

but he did not believe her every word.

She left him for another man;

a heart torn in two, waiting for another chance.

Old Man Sourpuss rocked on his chair back and forth, forth and back.

Old Man Sourpuss didn't even have a past.
