BEST WAYS TO AVOID EXAM STRESS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS…..

Every student who aims to become a high-achiever will experience exam stress. It’s an unavoidable part of student life that can be a tough nut to crack. Remember, stress exists for a reason and you can choose to let it be your downfall or use it to drive you to improve your work.

College requires significantly more effort from students than high school.  Once you enter college, you will probably find that your fellow students are more motivated, your instructors are more demanding, the work is more difficult, and you are expected to be more independent. These higher academic standards and expectations are even more evident in graduate school. As a result of these new demands, it is common for college students to experience greater levels of stress related to academics.

Once you are announced for the exam you feel that you are not prepared yet, but actually what it is ,is just an anxiety but nothing.

There are certain reasons behind exam stress, like you start thinking about your past exam’s mistakes. But actually your past mistakes are meant to guide you ,not to define you.

After you enter to the examination hall your mind start thinking like this ,as shown in above picture.

What basically happens in exam is: Tik tock, mind block, pen stop,

Eye pop, full shock, jaw drop,

Time up and no luck…

But remember to avoid this experience so that you can get success in your exam.

To combat exam stress, firstly you need to understand the reason behind this hightened anxiety. Then you can establish methods to reduce the pressure you feel.

Researches have uncovered some common explanations for this:

- Low motivation level

- Lack of preparation and planning

- High expectations from others

- Competition from peers

- Tension

- Difficulty in concentration

- Short temper or increased agitation

- Changes in eating habits (eg, stress eating)

- Changes in sleeping habits

- Pessimism or negative self talk

- Inability to accept failure

- Worrying about the following:

- Past performance on exam

- How friends/other students are doing

- The negative consequences of failure

Exams are like girlfriends:

 - Difficult to understand

 - Too much questions

 - More explanation is needed

 - Result is always fail
