Dear heart of mine, you are so blind; you break so easy all the time

I do so wish you’d stay in place, and would not run each foolish race

My precious heart, you rest in pain; you reach for every fickle flame

That does so burn and set you off, into the sea, home for the lost

Your misery flows within my blood, and causes such a violent flood

It overcomes me like a drug, with each and every heartstring’s tug

Dear heart of mine, I do regret, the fact that I have always let

You drive me into maddening traps, of luring love, made for saps

My precious heart, I surely would, rip you out, if but I could

I’d lock you up, forget the key, and cling tight to my sanity

Never again would you be free, to fall apart, and ruin me

Dear heart of mine, you’re far too blind; you waste all of my valued time

You drive me so far out my mind, that reason and sense get left behind
