POEM

WHERE HAS THE LOVE GONE

Where has the love gone

Alas where has the love gone

At one time we were madly in love

We were madly in love

The love lasted long and hard

Alas where has the love gone

Alas where has the love gone

Will it ever return again
Will it ever return again

Or has it been lost for ever

Or has it been lost for ever

At a time when we should be even more in love

Our love has gone for ever

What do I do

For I need it now more than ever

Alas our love has gone for ever

I considered leaving you

But that was not an option

Where would I go

With no family to call my own

I am now a married single

For nothing lasts for ever

I must embrace being single

And be happy with companionship

Alas I miss our love together

But you have grown old

While I am still young

You do not care for anyone

You have become a recluse

Alas our love has gone for ever

I am looking for another Mate

A  friend who would fill the void

A man to talk to

Like in yester years

Haven’t found anyone yet

Yet I go on looking

For I need a friend to fill the void

Alas love proves forever elusive

Even as our love has gone for ever

Our love has gone for ever

But I do not give up hope

I will find it from a stranger

From a  decent man

Who is lonely as I am

For I need love for now and ever more

For I need love for now and ever more .......

I have found many a  friend on my morning walks

Who are  delighted to see me

It makes their day as it does mine

I go every day to assuage the hearts of lonely souls

I now have sought an annulment

For he wanted to marry another soul

I now live with a mate

For our love has gone for ever

I am now free to love anyone I wish

Yet I feel lonely for I need a sweet heart

I have re connected with an old flame

For he loves me as I do him

But life is not perfect for he does not live with me

He lives far away in another town

At the end of it all

I am a lonely soul, I am a lonely soul

I pray to God to end this unbearable loneliness

Alas today I did not see a single soul

But I will wait

Tomorrow may be a better day

I must learn to be single

I must learn to be single

For I have no man to call my own

I have faith in God

It won’t be long before grandchildren come

Then I will be a happy soul

For now I connect to the neighbour’s kids

It assuages my lonely heart

All I need is a bit of contact

With a loving soul

For the love is there

In every soul

For the love is there

In every soul

I connect to that

For I am if nothing but resourceful

I am all in all a happy person

For I have found love in nature

I have the support of family and friends

but alas I am still lonely

for I am a retired soul

for I am a retired soul

I have since relocated

To my town full of relatives

I have family here and my old flame has moved to town

I am one happy person

Though I live on my own with a few house mates

I am still adjusting to retirement

Everyone here is a happy soul

Everyone here is a happy soul

I have yet to learn to be as happy as them

I have yet to learn to be as happy as them

And not allow myself to be lonely

Life can be full of happiness

Even after the love has gone
