A songbird perched upon a window sill

full of rustic cinnamon and amber tilth

Perilous hours spent on a serpentine trail

to brave a swollen journey through tumultuous terrain

O’er waves of azure blue and emerald green

soft winds murmur

of a journey’s end

by the window sill where the widow sleeps

A songbird perched upon a flimsy twig

peeks down upon life beneath

A solemn witness

of years passed

a curator of memories no longer abound

Behind these walls lie a potpourri of tales

of secrets, untold

but a silent observer, whose seen them spill

a lifetime in reflection; a companion amid the dark

For what the widow braved

so too had the lark
