I've written countless poems throughout the years so I've decided to start sharing some. Some of these are quite old. Also most of them are based on personal experiences. This one I remember writing back in senior year of high school. I wanted to display a story about someone breaking free and discovering who they are for the first time in a long time.

Staring into the shiny mirror
Brown eyes gaze back into mine
I closely watch the figure staring at me
Her eyes so full of pain
I reach out my hand to her and gently hold on to it
Losing the battle within herself
The worst foe lies within her
She cries out in pain
I lose my grip on her
Falling closer to self-destruction
My eyes are locked onto hers
She can't be saved
I won't let her
Her struggles are over
The problems are leaving
She shatters to the floor
I stare into the cracked floor
The image is broken
Problems are fading
I pick up the pieces
Start new with a brand new face
