First were we born, our wings pure as rain; then did we grow acquainted with pain

This world, it took from us, all memories of truth

And stuffed us with lies to banish our youth

Gone were the eyes unclouded by shame; up went the bars to block and restrain

The prisons were built to cage the insane, miserable wretches with no decent name

This life, it has hands, greedy for blood; it rips from our hearts the fibers of love

It beats down our faith, and murders each hope; then hangs from our necks, a lethal short rope

The friends are not loyal, but selfish and cruel; they carve though the backs of every blind fool

No longer is trust invested with pride; but now it is buried with martyrs who’ve died

The things we once held secure within dreams, have been blocked away by cold hardened screens

Our souls are now empty, desolate husks

Of once verdant glades—reduced down to dust
