Just Why?

Take your time and tell me, what has exactly been my crime,

it must have been something hideous, I’m paying all the time.

My self-respect has bottomed out, a non-existent state,

self-confidence is zero – there is nothing to deflate.

You have drowned me in the river of the opposite of hope;

stood me on a chair and round my neck you've tied a rope.

A tiny ray of sunshine, well, you’ll soon make sure it’s black;

there’s never too much time before you launch your next attack.

I know you’ve found me guilty but you’ve not read out the charge,

won’t let me speak in my defence, your hatred is too large.

You’re burying me in your prison where I will just remain

until you decide to let me go – or else I become insane.
