Kaera. "Kaera...wake up. Kaera!"

I felt a harsh tug on my blanket, waking me up instantly. The moment my eyes opened i was face to face with an evil grin. I scowled while rubbing me eyes, then looked at the clock in my room.

12:30 am. Great. Sighing with regret i saw infront of me stood my brother with his reddish-brown hair up in spikes and his dark blue eyes glinting in the moonlight as it entered through the window... he was wearing a black leather jacket with a tshirt inside and his trusty navy jeans.

My brother was a handsome guy indeed, any girl would be lucky to have him... but unfortunately there are plenty of those 'lucky' girls around him and he never seems to mind.

Again with the gothic look i see.

"What do you want? Its late Kaen." "I know i know.. but please be the awesome sister that you are and cover for me.." "No nononono.. you are not doing this again!" "Kaera please.. i know you will cover for me anyway.. i love you sister. Gotta run" "No! Kaen wait!.."

I couldn't even finish my sentence as he jumped out the window and joined his friends hiding behind the bushes.

Him and his party life. Sigh. That being my last thought , i fell in deep slumber again.

Morning came faster than expected. I joined my family for breakfast as usual.. trying to cover for Kaen who was still missing.

"Tell me Kaera, how is school going? Is it trues that Mrs Brightley's son failed the last examination?" "Wow mom, thanks for asking how MY school life is going and then jumping into gossip" i said while giving her a sarcastic smile. "Dont talk to me like that child! How dare y.." "Dear calm down.. what she says is right, don't use her as a medium for your gossip"

My dad was always the greatest.

Christopher Woods.

Everyone knew that name, and we certainly took pride in it. Afterall, my father worked so hard, working his way to the top to gain this stature. He was a genius at work plus, Him always being calm and collected no matter what always made me peaceful enough to deal with mom. Dad has always supported me in every way.. showering me with love and happiness. Never once had he ever even scolded me in the past. And mother... well she was a different story altogether.

My mother, Penelope Woods was the most strict person ever ,to be a part of this family. She was one one those fake people you tend to avoid knowing that they will only sputter nonsense which you have no interest in. It wasn't that i didn't like mother.. because i did.. she was a wonderful person, loving and carefree, charming and diligent. But sometimes she could be really harsh, on top of that she was a complete 'Social Butterfly'. Our family image was maintained by her. Outer standards meant every thing to her.. which means...Doomsday for me, as being the picture perfect daughter for her status was really difficult for me.

I just wanted to be happy with my family like a normal person. To have someone who actually cared. My mom was shushed by Dad and peace returned to the valley. What else did i need. Right?

I quickly got dressed for school, combing my long vibrant red hair and weaving it into a braid. Wearing my standard school uniform, navy blue skirt and white blouse with black balerina shoes and knee length socks. Giving myself a oneover i winked at myself flashing my violet eyes infront of the mirror.

Both my brother and i had red hair, blue-ish eyes inherited from dad and wonderful good looks. Was it in the gene pool? I never understood because my father was a natural blond with blue eyes and my mother was a brunette with brown eyes. Once i thought i was adopted. Falsely accused though. Hehe..

Going to school was easy .. School in general was easy.. for others. Well, me? I was a different story. I was a complete loner. Because of my name people tended to avoid me as even i was instructed to avoid common folk. The only friend i had was Neil Jones.

Entering the classroom i spotted Neil, him being the only one who had long brown hair reaching his shoulders and had to tie it up... so easy to find.

"Hey Neil." "Mmmm.. morning"

Let me tell you another one of his quirks... he was one of the laziest person on earth!.

"Oh come on Neil.. don't be lame. Now here you go.." I handed him a letter ... more so, an invitation. "Remember about the party i was talking about that mother hosts every year? Well you are invited... don't leave me hanging Neil" "Do i have to?" He whined and i snorted at him then wacking him on his head. "Who else is coming?" He asked " i dont know much but the you The Jones, Thatchers, Grant, Brightley and Masons are coming for certain as mother wanted to show off and stuff" i replied dismissively, "Grant?" He asked looking weary. "Yes Grant.. what's wrong?" "Kaera .. doesn't your mother hate that family? Aren't they your family rivals or something?"

I chuckled at that. "Yes they are. But did you really think mom would pass up this golden opportunity to show them up? She is totally declaring cold war against them man" "Hmm i see" "Lets just hope things turn out well right?" I said gazing out the window.
