A Fox’s Song.

You look at me, scream vermin,

And say I am a pest,

But look at all the land you took

And you’re wanting all the rest.

You’ve chopped down so much forest,

Cleared acres of scrub land,

You’ve taken all our hunting grounds

As you continue to expand.

We’re not wanting to come into towns,

Don’t like to raid your bins,

But the fact is that we have to eat

that does not we mean we are vermin.

You’ll hunt us with your dogs and guns,

Run us down on your streets

But you’ll never destroy all of us

For we’ll not accept defeat.

Leave us some space that’s natural

For we are not alone

In being displaced by humanity --

We all do need a home.

You want to poison us or starve us

But you’ve not destroyed the planet yet,

But carry on the way you are

And it's a barren waste you’ll get.
