When your heart has been broken more times that you'd care to admit, you tend to close up and build your walls. It makes it hard to let anyone in, even if they have good intentions. It's hard to trust them, because the words they're saying, you've heard them all before.

Unbind Me

I locked my heart behind the door,
And threw away the only key.
Stood tall and I even swore,
No one would ever see beneath me.

In the past I’ve been so disposable;
They all use me, then they go.
Now my feelings are non-negotiable;
I no longer go with the flow.

But then you came along;
Somehow you managed to come through.
Slowly you righted every wrong;
Now I feel I’m bound to you.

But in the morning they’re always gone,
Breaking the heart I wear on my sleeve.
Today the sky was cracked by dawn;
The question is when will you leave?

Just go before is too late;
Go away like they all do.
Please end this endless wait;
I beg you to unbind me from you.

As I read along it was like I'm reading myself. This is so in a relationship with me. Lovely poem. I hope you don't mind me sharing this.
