Sprinkling in Your Eyes

Who bought their vivid dreams from the Sandman?
The ones that come to tiptoe through the mind.
They seem to move through secret spaces, without keys,
Opening wispy windows to another space and time.
A penny for your thoughts. --- Who wants to know?
A dime for the one who sowed the seeds.
A quarter will not get you what you asked for
And a dollar will not buy you what you need.
***
I suspect that the Sandman is a fallacy,
In fact, I do believe that he's a She.
A man would never lull you into slumber
He'd just conk you on the head and let you be.
Conking is effective and much faster
But lulling is a mothers way to act.
So I reasoned and debated with myself
That the Sandman is a woman, and that's a fact.
Now we have a problem, it is in the name,
It should be changed to suite her tender ways.
And I doubt it's sand, maybe dust that she sprinkles
That takes us to that place in slumber's haze.
Her name should flow like water through the lips
Reminiscent of those dream-lands in the skies.
If you think of something, --- call her just to see
If she answers with a sprinkling in your eyes.

Nice one, JE. And you could be on to something here -- but we can't call her 'dustwoman' so what should we name her?

Think of one and call her, then wait and see what happens. If you fall asleep waiting, then that was the one she liked. --- LOL
