A golden hue

Fills the sky,

Tiny golden

Sand grains fly.

Golden birds soar

Through the air,

Golden geckos

Hide in lairs.

The summer wind

Of this desert vast

Brings with it the night

When stars appear

And the moon is near

And herons take their flight.

The golden becomes

Midnight blue

And tells us that

The day is through.

The pure white sand

Now only stirs,

And mice nestle in

Their silken furs.

The summer wind

Of this desert vast

Bears away the night

When stars disappear

And the sands begin to sear

And the gold sun is in sight.
