Ain’t Yours to Take

If you ever drive through Heartbreak Town,
You’ll find me drinking by the bar.
I’m the Mayor and I wear the crown;
Take a look; roll down the window of your car.

In this town there’s always rain,
And the sun goes down at three at noon.
The buildings are painted with shades of sorrow and pain;
The night is barely broken by the moon.

Everybody here rides on their own;
You won’t find a single friend.
Everybody might feel so alone,
And there's no one to call "home".

In Heartbreak Town there ain’t no coal,
But we’re rich in whiskey and rum.
Lonely, dark and twisted little souls,
It’s what we all here become.

If you ever drive through Heartbreak Town,
Just keep driving for your own sake.
I’m the Mayor and I wear the crown;
This town ain’t yours to take.
