How do Songwriters do it?

Seriously?

How are they that good at telling a story in 3 minutes than most people are writing a 5 page short story?

What is their secret?

I'm saying this with all sincerity. If this comes across as insulting Fiction writers, I sincerely apologise.

The reason for my question is that while listening to an Oldies station on the radio, I came across a song that was one of the first stories I had ever heard in my life. One of the utmost beauty and fully imagined songs I had ever heard.

It was "Slip Sliding Away" by Paul Simon.

Now, I am by no means a Music Critic or expert. I am however a Paul Simon fan. While working on a couple of stories for this site. That particular song was one of complete inspiration for a story about redemption that I'm currently on.

I strongly believe that next time you buy a CD or are listening to a song online, look up the lyrics. The right words can always lead to a great story.

This piece is a little jumbled. Sometimes thoughts can make things a little screwy.

I'm sure I heard a song on the radio about that once.
