this poem is sort of autobiographical. a person i admired so much told me a few times that she was intrigued by my machiavellian mind. i always took it as an insult, though she meant it as a compliment. this poem is sort of about that.

Machiavellian Mind

The boy with the Machiavellian mind,
The one that always treats you kind,
In order to get what he desires,
Even if he leaves behind raging fires.

The boy with unlimited powers;
He hides a knife behind the flowers.
When you least expect it he attacks,
Throwing you completely off your tracks.

The boy with the vengeful heart,
Capable of tearing you apart.
He’ll bring you up to take you down;
He’ll play you for a clown.

The boy that never gives a damn;
That’s the boy they think I am.
But I’m just the one with bruises and scars,
Searching for the light of the stars.

So you can stop trying to fix me,
As I’m the one I want to be.
You can keep your precious cure;
I don’t aspire to be pure.
