Me? A Millionaire?

When I took that phone call, it came out of the blue,

I’m sitting here just wondering if it’s happened yet to you.

A voice I didn’t recognize but who knew my name

Told me that I’m the winner of this special lotto game!

An end to all the scraping – that was my only thought;

Never dreamt it was a scam that had nearly got me caught.

I was still filled up with joy when the questions, they were asked,

They kind of took away excitement as the time went past.

So many details they did want, a warning bell began to ring,

And slowly to my senses, I let it, to me, bring.

They needed all my bank details, and first there’d be a payment,

Just to cover the cost of processing, for I would be a claimant.

When asked how much the payment was my bubble it did pop --

Five hundred up in front, he said – my hopes, well, they did drop.

I shouted, “You’re a scammer! This whole thing is a con!”

And then I put the phone down – should have done that all along.

At least there’d been no harm done, bank details still are hidden

But still I can’t help thinking that this should have been forbidden.

They know my name, know where I live, but that is really all,

I made good my escape from that tempting sudden call!
