We recently took a vacation, the first vacation we had had in years.  We went to Alaska to see the northern lights, which was something I had always wanted to do, ever since I was a small child.  When the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance; I could NOT say no.

It was the trip of a lifetime.  I had the best time; having my boyfriend by my side made the trip all the more special, especially since it was he who suggested the trip in the first place.  Nice fellow, huh?? :)

We went to Alaska back in March.  Perfect time to go: both day and night, got to see the mountains and landscape covered with snow, trees and wildlife as far as the eyes could see, and yes, the northern lights dancing wildly across the skies, which are studded with stars (provided it is clear outside, of course).  We were in Alaska for ten days (not long enough in my opinion!).

The northern lights displays were among the best I had ever seen (and according to locals, it was a very good, active aurora season, one of the best ones in quite some time).  They were out on the nights it was clear, and they were all colors: green, white, pink, even blue, red, and yellow.  They looked like curtains, ribbons, or even stars bursting in the sky (called coronas).  It was incredible!

Well, Jeff (my boy toy) suggested that we lie underneath the lights, which is what we did.  We had a clear, unobstructed view of the celestial spectacle; we even took videos and pictures, which I posted on Facebook and on Pinterest.  Got a lot of comments about my photography, too; I was very pleased at the response.

I am going to have to go back to Alaska again; I'll make sure of that.  I just hope that Jeff will agree to go with me again.  But I will tell him that we will have to go during northern lights season; I want to see the northern lights again!!  :)
