This poem was my attempt at "storytelling". It's about a man that's trapped in his relationship because he's not brave enough to break free, so he keeps his true identity under the shadows.

On The Low

He told her he was going out with a friend,
To an event out of town she could not attend.
But little did she know,
About the affair he was keeping on the low.

He knew what he was doing was so wrong,
But his desires were too strong.
So they met up like every Wednesday night,
And held each other close so tight.

It was like a school-boy crush,
And his wife couldn't give him that kinda rush.
Guilt doesn't keep him from living in sin,
As he was feeling the pleasures of the skin.

At night he tried to pray,
But from this double life he couldn't stray.
And he hides it the best he can,
But he fell in love with another man.

One time he tried to come clean,
But their daughter had just turn thirteen.
So he keeps kissing his wife's lips,
While for his lover at night he strips.

In that man he found true love,
But true love was just not enough.
He's not willing to sacrifice his perfect life,
So he vows to never leave his wife.

So they make love like every other time,
Passionate yet so sublime.
And when the night ends he goes back home;
Sleeping with her but feeling so alone.

He's out for late hours with a friend,
to an event she couldn't attend.
But little did he know,
She always knew but puts on a show.
