For what be thy name remembered; as a whisper passed through deaf ears?

As an anonymous crack writhing on the pavement beneath the soles of revolution?

What hast thou done worth a staple of meaning in this time?

What fraction of you will be immortalized in the hearts of the mindless world?

Shall you live and breed statistics, simply ones amongst the masses?

Shall you be a faceless victim, another story for the news?

How insignificant then is life, and meaningless all our strife

If in the end we’ll be erased, and just a long forgotten face

For what is thyself then striving, always fighting for?

For what is to you well valued, enough to remain in this war?

Not a war of bombs, of guns, of blood and death

I speak of the war of life, which wearies all, even the best

Answer me this dear soldier, dear martyr, my sad friend

For what will they say you have lived, and died for in the end?
