Chapter 112

When Briar woke up she felt slightly dishoriented.

Then she saw Eli calmly dry himself off at the foot of the bed. It looked like he had just taken a shower.

She pulled the covers over herself but she already knew what had happened. She had sex with a complete stranger.

"Oh god, I turned into Ava for one night." She cringed and fell back on the pillow.

"Aren't you all sunshine and rainbows in the morning." He said sarcastically as he slipped on a pair of pants. He zipped them up and reached for his belt. "I made coffee. It's crap but it's caffeine."

She didn't know what to answer to that.

She had sex...with a stranger. She could have done something worse. Wait a minute...

She sat back up. "We didn't use protection."

He didn't look faced. "I have no diseases and I'm infertile."

"Is that supposed to somehow relieve me? I don't know you. You could be a liar. What if I go and get tested only to find out that I contracted something? Or a month from now I find out that I'm pregnant?"

He put on his shirt and buttoned it. "I already told you. Whether you choose to believe me or not is your problem."

"You're weird and creepy."

He gave her that uneasy feeling again. "I get that a lot. Would you like coffee or not?"

"I choose not. I think I am going to shower. I want to erase anything of you off my skin." She stood and took the sheet with her.

He watched her go into the bathroom. He was amused by her. He liked her in an uninterested, meal only way.

He needed to see if Angel was up by now.

He appeared in her room only to find Noah on her sofa bed sleeping. She came walking out of her bedroom dressed for the day.

"Would it kill you to use the door?" She rolled her eyes.

"I like my mode of transportation, thank you. I see you had company."

"I told him everything last night."

He arched a brow. "Everything?"

"Almost. Not what we really are or what I'm really doing here obviously. I told him about me being his half sister."

"Good for you."

"You should be glad that I only did it because he tried to kiss me."

Eli grinned. "I told you."

"I know. Do you know how annoying it is for me to admit that you were right about something?"

"I will always be right. You just need to accept that."

Noah groaned from the uncomfortable position he had been and did a double take when he saw Eli. "You..."

"Me." Eli smirked.

"Where's Briar?"

"Is she okay?" Angel asked.

"Of course. I'm not a mass murderer." Eli joked. "She'll be out in a moment. I should probably get back to her."

Noah stood up. "Are you interested at all in her other than a one night stand?"

"Would it bother you?"

"Eli..." She took a step forward in case this turned into an even bigger problem.

He sighed. "She's a great girl. I may be slightly interested in seeing her again but I believe she is not. Does that answer your question?"

"Not really."

"I'm going now." Eli opened the dividing door this time and went into his room that way.

Briar was already speed dressing and just about ready to walk out the door. She put on her shoes and looked around for her purse. "Where's my bag?"

"I don't know. I only brought you."

"Great, just great."

"If you need it for a ride or something I don't have a car but..." Eli opened the door revealing the two people in the other room.

Her mouth opened in surprise at seeing Noah.

Angel gave Eli a look. Couldn't he have knocked first? She should have locked it after he left.

"Briar. Good morning." Noah greeted her.

"Uh, yeah, morning." She glanced at Eli. "It would have been nice to warn me before doing that. I am fine getting to my home somehow."

"I find it that Noah should know where you live. Weren't you two like...fucking around or something?"

She narrowed her eyes. How did he know that they were sleeping with each other?

"Excuse his crude words and ignore him. We don't have a car but I'm sure that Noah would gladly take you home. There are a few things he probably has to say to you." Angel encouraged.

Noah knew why she was doing it. "It won't be a problem. I think James took your purse yesterday. I'll drop you off at your house."

"Actually you should take me to James' place. I need my purse." Briar bit her lip nervously. Was she really about to go with him?

Could things get anymore awkward?

"Alright." He turned to Angel and gave her a hug. Angel looked surprised but she returned it with a smile. "I'll call you later. I definitely want to keep seeing you."

"Me too. Remember what I said."

He let her go and gave a curt nod. He had thought about it long after she had gone to her room. He knew what he wanted and he was not going to let go. Not without a fight.

"I'll be seeing you." Eli told Briar.

She shook her head and opened the hotel door. She stepped out into the hallway and headed for the elevator.

Noah came up behind her and they waited for the elevator doors to open.

"How was your night?" She attempted conversation.

"It was...enlightening. I found out something that I did not expect. Yours?"

"Horrifying but I'll get over it."

He turned her to look at him inside the elevator. "Did he hurt you?"

"No. It's just...I can't explain it and I don't think I should. It's weird to talk to you about this. We shouldn't. I'm not asking you how sex was with Angel."

"Oh gross, no. That never happened and never will."

She was confused. "I thought you liked her."

"I thought I did but then I found out that...she's my half sister."

"That was my reaction too."

The elevator dinged and they got out in the lobby. He led her to the parking lot where his truck was. He opened the passenger door and then went around to get in the driver's side.

"I was surprised and we talked part of the early morning."

"That's a shock. Are you okay? What do you think about this?"

"I like it." He smiled. "I like having a sister. She's nice. A little odd but nice."

"I'm happy for you."

"Thanks. There's something I want to talk to you about."

"I...I don't like being away from you. I enjoyed our time together and I know that I said that I didn't want us to be just sleeping around. I don't want that but I do want you in my life."

"Hear me out. We can take a chance. I want us to and I'm not going to give up. Unless you really don't like me then that's a whole other problem."

"I do like you. I wish it could be easy to be together but it won't."

"Is anything ever easy? Think about it. I might be looking to moving myself."

She raised her eyebrows. "To California?"

"More like Vegas."

"Las Vegas isn't too far from where I'm planning on moving to in Cali. It all depends on the college." She chewed her lip. "Can I ask you something?"

"What happened last night with Elijah..."

"Doesn't matter. You're not my girlfriend. You can do whatever you want. Although if we do get together I want a monogomous relationship."

"Of course. I would never cheat on you."

"I wouldn't either."

"I have to think about this."

"I understand."

"Can't believe I'm actually considering a long distance relationship."

"Why don't you want one?"

"The distance. Breaking up. I didn't want to experience that but I think I did when we stopped things between us. I felt heartbroken."

"I did as well." He stopped the truck outside of the apartment complex her brother lived at.

"Thanks for the ride. I'll let you know about what I think on this."

"Okay. No pressure."

She smiled. "I missed you."

He grinned. "Did you brush your teeth?"

"Yes, with one of those complimentary toothbrushes. Scrubbed my body until I was pink as well."

"Good." He leaned in and cupped the back of her nape, bringing her in for kiss. It was heart stopping for her as he angled his head.

As sudden as it had happened he let her go.

"Just something to add to the thinking about."

She blushed. That definitely helped. "I...I'll definitely be thinking about it."

He chuckled as she got out of his truck. She made him happy and he really had been missing her in his life even if it had only been for a week.
