Chapter 117

Angel enjoyed the night air as she stood out on the hotel balcony.

She felt Eli when he appeared in her room behind her.

"You're not going to do it. Are you?" He broke the silence.

"I can't."

"Is it because of Noah?"

"Partly." She sighed and turned around to face him. "I love him and like I said before, I never want to hurt him. Killing Dominik Moreau would do that. The man is also nice and his family is important to him. There is something more to why he killed the man that fathered me."

"Well I guess to hell with fixing your problem."

"I'd rather stay the way I am than do something I'm going to regret."

"It's your decision. I was only here to see you go through with it." He smiled slightly.

"That means..."

"Yes. I'm leaving. I have nothing else to do here."

"I bet you're going to be busy in Hell." She chuckled. "Can't believe I'm actually going to say this but I might miss you."

"I doubt it. You'll do good on your own just remember to be careful."

"I will." She shifted from foot to foot. "When are you leaving?"

"Right now. I should be on my way. I don't know what I'm going to tell my father. He sure is not going to be happy but he'll get over it."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. It was nice getting to know you Angel.'

"I can't completely agree with being glad I ever met you because technically this is all your fault but it was a little bit fun having you around."

"Now you have Noah."

"For a while. I'm not going to stay here forever. I think maybe a couple more months. I'm definitely going to have to think of a new career."

"Good luck with that."

"I'm going to need it."

"I suggest you do something that has to do with dead people."

"Hmm, that might be a good idea."

He clicked his tongue. "I have to go now. I'll be seeing you, perhaps we'll meet again someday."

She shrugged. "Maybe. I won't be holding my breath."

"Goodbye Angel."

"Bye, Elijah."

He gave her his signature smirk as he disappeared.

She was completely alone in her room. No more Eli to bother her. Strangely that made her feel sad. He had been with her for months and now he was gone.

She would get over it.

For now she would focus on keep spending time with her brother for as long as she could.

"Are you going to tell me what's wrong?" Katherine insisted to find out what had happened that had Dom tense.

"I will when we get home. I don't want upset you just yet."

"What? Why would I be upset? Does this have anything to do with Ava calling you last night? Did something happen to her or to Laney?"

"Laney is fine."

"Oh god, what happened to Ava?"

"Katherine...we're almost home."

"Fine. I can wait another hour." She huffed and crossed her arms.

"Don't be upset with me darling. I love you and I only want what's best for you."

"You treat me like a child. I am your wife."

"It's something that can't be talked like this. We need to get together and deal with it."

She looked out of the window to keep herself occupied while he drove.

It was a long hour of silence from her. They reached their home and she continued with it as they entered the house.

"Can you tell me now?" She turned on him in the foyer.

"Yes. Let me call Kerim and see if he's here." He took out his phone and called his brother. He was actually upstairs and he would be down in a moment.

They waited in the living room. Kerim and Juliet came down to talk about what had happened with Austin.

"Did you tell her already?" Juliet asked as she sat down next to her on the couch.

"No." Dom answered.

"Alright well this is what's happening." She explained everything to Katherine. What they had done since they had arrived and how Ava was.

Ava was currently with Mitch. They didn't look that great in appearance and didn't want to scare Laney. They had gotten another babysitter to take care of Laney until Katherine and Dom would arrive.

Austin was still in his home of course. They hadn't moved the body too much. They had cleaned up the place and searched for the files he had hidden away with no luck.

Their only hope was the police. Actually mostly Daniel and Linc once they got into the place later after the 24 hours were up.

Katherine was stunned. "I can't believe this. Have you seen her? How is she?"

"She seemed fine actually. We went by after we finished at the house. Mitch is doing a good job at keeping her calm. She'll be okay." Juliet patted her hand.

"After years of therapy she might be. She just murdered someone. This never would have happened had you two never gone back into that stupid business!" Katherine exploded as she glared at Dom and Kerim. "Do you know what you've done?! How is she ever going to go back to being our lovely little girl?"

"I personally think this is a good thing. She can defend herself if someone ever tries to harm her." Kerim thought optimistically. Actually anything that had to do with death made him happy. He was right when he had warned Dom about Ava. That pleased him greatly.

"I need a moment." Katherine rubbed her temples and headed out of the room.

"She'll be fine. I'll go after her, you two need to talk." Juliet followed.

Kerim turned to Dom. "What are we going to do about Maleah and Jake? Not even dead does Austin help."

"They'll have to stay in Canada for a while longer. We will not tell them about Austin, got it."

"Whatever. Actually I do want them to stay there, maybe forever. When she comes back and sees Lincoln with another woman, well, things will not go so good."

"Sorry about that."

"It's his life. I can't force him to wait for her when we don't even know when she's going to be able to come back."

"I'll talk to Daniel and see what they can do."

"I'm thinking they are going to tear that house apart. If Austin wasn't there we would have done the same thing but since they are going to have to go through everything we couldn't."

"Are you sure you got rid of anything that might lead them to Ava?"

"I'm hoping. We cleaned as best we could, even the weapon. You now know about Mitch. What do you think of that?"

"I don't know. How did he seem to you?"

"He looked like he was taking everything well for now. Man, Ava gets the job done."

"What do you mean?"

"Austin...shit, I would not have wished to die the way he did. I'd say she stabbed him until she grew tired. It was fucking gross and that's saying something coming from me."

"I'm definitely going to encourage she go see someone after what happened. I think I'm going to go up and rest for a bit."

"Alright."

"I'll check on her later."

"I think that might be best because she did seem tired when we saw her. She'll be glad to see you though."

"I want to talk to Lenard also as soon as we can."

"He was going to be at Austin's house making sure we got everything. He was also going to see if he could find any hiding places the ass might have had."

"Got it. I'll see you later." Dom headed up the stairs to his room. His wife was in there alone. "Sweetheart."

She was brusquely putting away her clothes from the trip. She barely glanced at him. "I'm upset with you."

"It's understandable."

She slammed a drawer. "If you weren't back in that Ava never would have gotten involved."

"True but Austin would still be wreaking havoc and we would have had no way to stop him. Maleah would be in jail without hope of getting out."

She crossed her arms. "You're never going to be able to leave that behind, are you?"

"I don't know."

"I love you Dominik. Every part of you, even back when I first fell for you. I knew you were this type of man and I still let myself fall in love. My feelings haven't changed I just want to know that my daughters will not be getting involved."

"Ava already has but I will try to get her untangled from this mess. Chey will not see this life. I'm sure than anything that even she would push it as far away from her as possible. She's already moved out of the house and she's safe with James."

"I don't want anything to do with it as well. I'm no Juliet, I don't kill people."

"She hasn't either."

"The masquerade event?"

"Oh right. I guess she killed for her first time there. I promise you won't be involved. I'll try not to get much into it either. I think Kerim and Juliet will be fine if I barely show my face at the warehouse."

"I would love that much better than you going." She went to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I don't want you getting shot again."

He understood her completely. He wouldn't want anything to happen to her either. He kissed her on the forehead and rested his chin on the top of her head.

They would be fine. All of them.
