Chapter 128

Lidia swept Charlie's hair to the side and put in the pearl clip. She took a step back and her eyes watered.

"If you cry you are going to make me cry."

"I'm sorry. You are getting married. I think it's just hitting me. I never thought when this year started that this would happen. Not soon at least."

Charlie turned to the mirror and smiled. "I didn't know either. Linc turned my world upside down in a good way."

"Here's your bouquet." Her mother handed her the floral decoration. "Your dad is sure to shed a few tears as well. I don't doubt it."

There was a light knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's me, father of the bride."

"Come in Chance."

He opened the door and peeked inside. He came all the way in when he saw his daughter. "Oh Charlie..." He swallowed the lump that rose in his throat.

"Doesn't she look perfect?" Lidia went to him.

"Of course she does. She's always been perfect."

"You guys need to stop before I really do cry." Charlie fanned her face with her hand.

"I came to tell you that it was time. Everyone is finally outside waiting for us."

"This is it. I'm getting married." Her voice trembled. Not out of fear but from happiness. Her dream was going to come true. To marry a man that loved her with all his heart like she loved him.

"Are you ready?"

"I am."

"I'm going to go on ahead and get my seat. I'll put on the music on my way."

"Thanks mom."

"Anything for you baby." Lidia gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving.

Charlie took Chance's arm and he took her out of the room. Briar and Noah had graciously let her use their room to get ready. It was all easier that way.

They went around the house to where everyone was sitting. The music had just started playing.

Linc and her had gone to see power rangers and there was a song they liked from it. It had been redone many times but this was the best version in their opinion. 'Stand by me' being sung by The Bootstraps was a good song to walk down the aisle.

She held on to her father's arm tightly as she smiled at Linc. Everyone was standing on either side of the aisle watching her walk to him.

Her chest swelled in happiness. She tried not to cry which turned out to be difficult.

When she reached him her father kissed her on the forehead and gave Linc a nod.

Linc took her hand in his and they faced the man officiating over their ceremony. They said their vows as they gazed into each other's eyes.

"I do." Charlie said without hesitation.

The same question was asked to Linc. "I do."

"With this I now pronounce you husband and wife."

There was clapping as Linc took her in his arms and bent her towards the floor. She laughed and kissed him. He straightened her with a smile on his face.

"It's time to party!" Ava yelled from the second row earning everyone a laugh. It was only ten in the morning but she was right. It was time to celebrate.

She was the one that got to the music before Noah to his chagrin.

"Don't worry I'm going to choose something appropiate."

Kid Rock 'All summer long' started playing. She turned up the volume and danced her way to Mitch.

Noah had to agree that this was a good song especially for summer. He took off his shirt as the other men in the family started doing it.

Charlie and Linc had told them that shoes were not allowed and that they should wear their swim clothes underneath. They had the wedding in the morning so that they could enjoy the rest of the day partying or resting near the water.

Chey thought it was funny and crazy as the guests took off their clothes to show swim trunks, bathing suits and bikinis they were wearing. "This I think is my favorite wedding ever." She slipped off her dress revealing her two piece.

"I think so too." James was already in his trunks.

"Well my wedding is certainly not going to be like this." Tricia came up to them. "Okay maybe just the simple part."

"Where are they going?" Chey asked as she saw Linc and Charlie leaving together towards one of the golf carts.

James picked her up making her scream in surprise. "I'm guessing off to do their own thing. I'm going to dunk you in the water now."

"Don't you dare!" She threatened but she was laughing as he ran with her towards the water.

Tricia went over to her fiance and cousin. Ava was on the ground giving Laney all her sand toys. She stood up and wiped her hands.

"The bride and groom are leaving so we're on our own."

"They are obviously going to go get it on like rabbits. I'd want to as well." Ava smirked.

"Of course you would you sex addict." Tricia frowned at her.

"Well she's my addict." Mitch put his arm around Ava's waist and pulled her close to him. She raised her face and kissed him deeply.

"And I'm thoroughly disgusted. Let's get out of here Esteban."

He chuckled as he took Tricia's hand and they left the couple alone.

Ava pulled away and laughed. "I just love teasing your cousin."

"I can see that." Mitch shook his head. "You two should get along better."

"I try. What do you want to do?"

"How about we help Laney build some castles. I'm sure that by the time we're done she's going to want to go nap. We'll head back to the house, put her in her room and we'll have our own nap time."

"I like the way you think Mr. Dubois. I like your last name. Makes a nice sound."

"Mitchel Dubois. Guess it does. How about Ava Dubois? How does that sound to you?"

She wasn't completely sure. It made the butterflies already in her stomach flurry chaotically.

"Calm down. Not now maybe in another year. We'll see." He pinched her cheek lightly and sat down on the ground with Laney. "Join us. You have a lot of time to think on it."

She got down on her knees beside them. She blushed when he looked her way at which he chuckled.

Was she blushing? How long had it been since a man actually made her feel like a school girl? She didn't remember and she didn't care.

Being with him had changed her, even before they got together. She liked that. She liked what having Mitch had done to her and Laney.

Her daughter was blossoming. She adored him and did anything he said as if he was her real father.

Maybe someday he could be.

Ava got into the sand castle building. Her mind focused with the task at hand as everyone else did their own thing.

Katherine and Dom watched them from a distance. They were relaxing under the shade of an umbrella.

"Don't they look good together?" She gushed. "I hope this is something serious. I could really see myself organizing a wedding like the one we had."

"I can see it too." He teased her warmly. "You did an excellent job. I still remember every detail as if it was just yesterday."

"Chey and James are another couple that will probably be getting married soon. Although I feel like Ava and Mitch are going to do it first. Shall we bet?" Avery stopped beside them with her own chair.

"Hey I want in. Fifty bucks on whatever we're betting on." Delilah was close behind.

"And this is my cue to leave and join the gentlemen." Dom grabbed his chair and went off to where Daniel, Ethan and Kerim were.

"Hey! Who organized this and didn't give me a heads up?" Juliet crossed her arms and stood in front of the three women.

Delilah laughed. "No one. I was following Avery."

"I'm like the leader of the group. You can't have a meeting without me. I brought you all together." She sat down on the sand and started covering her legs with it.

"One, how are you the one that brought us all together? Two, why the hell are you doing that?" Katherine asked amused.

"Well you got to know me at the hospital. There you got to meet Delilah and Avery after you decided you should stalk her. It all started with me."

"She makes a valid point." Avery clicked her tongue.

"And to answer your sand question. I have no idea why I'm doing this." Juliet shook her feet free.

Katherine looked off to the other group of women. It was Lidia, Lucy, Lyn and Maddie. "Should we invite them over? They are now part of our family."

"We should. Give it another few minutes. I want to ask Juliet about Maleah. Do you know how she is?" Delilah asked her.

"She's okay healthwise. Jake works so she stays at home. It's going well."

"Good. Daniel said that he left the presinct with the job on locating storage units that Austin guy may have used. Hopefully they'll find something and she can come home."

"I'm hoping it's not too soon. I want to give her some more time to get over Linc. I think this would hurt her a lot being recent." Juliet explained.

"True. Some things can't be helped." Delilah understood. "Things have never been easy for us."

"Tell me about it. We had some peace for quite a while. Drama seems to follow us everywhere. I'm hoping for some peace and quiet soon." Avery looked out to the water.

"I'm sure you mean Angel by the way you're talking. We never thought that she would one day appear in your life." Her sister rubbed her arm.

"It was a surprise, still is. Noah absolutely loves her and I...I care about her but not in a daughter kind of way. Ethan's the one that's taking her rejection hard."

"Of course he is. He saw her being born. He was with you those last couple of months. He loved her the moment he laid eyes on her."

"Yes and I gave her up just like that. I don't regret it, especially after finding out that she's Frederick's."

"Don't think about him. Angel doesn't deserve that. She's her own person." Katherine told her.

"I don't blame her in any way. It's just something I never thought to think of again. She'll be leaving soon according to Noah. It's for the best."

They stayed quiet for a moment.

"Is it me or is it really hot and humid today?" Juliet wiped sweat off her forehead.

"Maybe it would help if you took off your shirt and shorts." Delilah offered. "I don't know why you insist. Our kids are older and they've found out most of the truth. One old bullet scar is nothing. They won't ask."

Juliet wasn't sure but it was hot. Then again everyone knew about their old life. At least their family not the others.

She stood up and started taking off her clothes. Underneath she had a bathing suit. Instantly she felt better.

So what if people asked. She could choose not to answer.

"We should go over there now. We're all family and continue to get closer as our children keep getting married to theirs." Katherine stood and grabbed her chair.

They all did the same and went over to the other women to get aquainted.
