This is a poem about that key moment in every mourning process; the moment you are able not only acknowledge that you have something you need to get over, but you also make the compromise do to everything in your power to fix it.

Long Way To Go

Always in the middle of the war zone;
string of bad decisions as I am danger-prone.
But I witnessed a light at the distant horizon,
and with the sun my will started rising.

Trying to shake the demons off my back,
and wreck the darkness painted black.
Slowly putting one foot in front of the other;
no longer running for cover.

Stood up and started riding a new wave,
leaving behind everything I thought you gave.
Found a new breeze of fresh air,
as the toxicness I can no longer bear.

There's still a long way to go,
but I'm no longer a puppet in someone else's show.
And those naivete lollypop licking days are gone;
I'm broken but it don't mean it's all over and done.
