“Welcome back! We’re seeing a sensational show here tonight and if you’re just tuning in - where have you been?”

The bronzed game show host let’s his sparkling white teeth reassure the viewers.

“We started with 4 feisty contestants but - with three lifelines down - only one player remains. He’s Vincent Lee, a 28-year old former mechanic from Indiana. But before we meet him again, let’s see who we’ve said good-bye to tonight.”

A lavish graphic flashes on screen and a third is filled with the image of a young, black man.

“Leon Parker was the first to leave us. His representative on ‘Fastest Finger First’ was his aunt Shanice. Can you believe it, she took 5.6 seconds to remember who was the first President of these great United States. So it was bye-bye Leon.”

The face of an old, fat, Latino man joins Leon Parker on screen.

“Next up was Hay-Zeus Baez but this ‘Jesus’ was sunk by the sea. He had two good rounds before making a simple mistake. Sorry Hay-Zeus but dolphins are mammals, not fish. And he didn’t use any of his get-out-of-jail-free cards. You know what we say on this show: you don’t get anyTHING for...”

The camera cuts to the presenter smiling as the audience screams “guess-ING.”

The presenter chuckles at the hilarity of it all and moves on.

“The last to leave us was Timothy Henderson.”

The graphic reappears with a spotty, teenage, white boy joining the other pictures on-screen.

“Little Timmy had a great run all the way into the seventh, and penultimate, round. Yeah, sure he’d used all of his get-out-of-jail-free cards but I wouldn’t have got his last question right. An electric exit, you might say.”

The screen cuts to various members of the audience laughing and then back to the presenter wiping a tear from his eye.

“Now here we are in the final round. Vincent Lee, a murderer who raped and mutilated 6 women, has used all his get-out-of-jail-free cards: Phone The Warden, 50:50, Ask The Guards – and has this question to save his skin. so... On what date did you commit your THIRD murder? May 24th? May 26th? May 22nd? Or May 28th?

After a long pause before Vincent mumbles “May 22nd”.

“Shall we lock that in? A bit like you’re locked in... to your seat!”

The audience laughs.

Vincent nods.

“Final Answer? And on this show that really could be true. So... final answer?”

Vincent nods.

There is a long pause and a loud failure klaxon sounds. Vincent screams while a curtain draws around him, the presenter leaps off his seat and walks towards camera while the sound of high voltage surges.

“So that’s farewell from beautiful San Quentin prison. Thank you for joining us on this week’s addition of “Who Wants Out of The Electric Chair”.

Let’s see if anyone can do it next week. I hope not! Goodnight.”
