My wife currently lies in a comatose state in the Intensive Care Unit here at Nashville Memorial Hospital, where skilled medical workers take care of her and tend to her every need.  She's been this way since Wednesday afternoon, after she got injured in a terrible car accident while coming home from work.

Her injuries are numerous and her condition is currently marked as "serious to critical".  She has numerous broken bones, a bruised liver, a lacerated kidney, a punctured lung, a bruised stomach, and a severe head injury; doctors are not sure whether she will be able to recover; and if she does recover, she could have lasting damage to her brain or have permanent disabilities.

Such a lot to take in in such a short period of time. One minute, Annie was a vibrant, laughing, lively woman just living her life; and thanks to the carelessness of a texting driver who wasn't paying attention, Annie is now fighting for her very life and we aren't sure as to what the outcome will be.

It's been very hard on myself and the older kids; the younger kids know something is wrong, as their Mama isn't home; but they don't know the grisly details just yet.  We will tell them soon, but we are trying to figure out a way to do so without scaring them, which is not going to be very easy to do, considering the seriousness of the situation.

The older kids and myself have been visiting with Annie, praying, waiting, hoping for a miracle; but so far, Annie remains unresponsive, a tube breathing for her, and monitors and wires recording her life signs.  She is all banged up and looks terrible.  She does not look at all like the same person she was before she got hurt.

Well, Dr. Mahapatra wants to talk to me again (probably another update); so I must go. Just say some prayers for Annie (and for us) and pray that she comes out of this in one piece and that her recovery time is relatively short!  Any and all prayers are much appreciated and welcomed; will update you again in a few days as to what's going on.  This is such a frightening time in our lives!!

Thanks and God bless!
