This poem is about finding a new person that makes you happy. However, you've got history chained to your ankle that's as heavy as an iron ball. This poem is about the fear of losing that new light in your life, because of past mistakes.

If You Ask

If you ask about me when you're around,
they'll all bury me in the ground,
by giving away, one by one, every single flaw,
and say that I'll perform a show just to hear the applause.

The owner of a relentless heart of stone;
to approach me is to endure a danger zone.
Dragging my old lovers around like a chain;
they'll say I'm crazy, messed up and insane.

A sneaky rattlesnake with deep blue eyes;
to walk my way ain't considered wise.
But if youd are to tear down the walls,
you'll find some light as the evening falls.

If you ask about me when you're in town,
they'll all try to burn me down.
But if somehow you decide to stick around,
I'll help you reach your highest ground.
