Lost The Plot

Once I knew just what I thought concerning everything,

but then I lost my focus and I went meandering.

I listened more to others and ignored my inner voice

feeling I was so inferior, I really had no choice.

I’d make an attempt to speak my mind, just to be shouted down,

my confidence it disappeared, I felt just like a clown.

Better to just ignore things, better never to think --

that became my policy as I left myself to sink.

But recently it’s in my mind – I question who is right?

Who can tell me I am wrong? And I’ve begun to fight.

I’ll not be speaking out though, for I have learnt much to my cost

that when it comes to arguing my point’s already lost.

I’ll type my thoughts in documents, I’m not so confused I find,

when I let them reach my fingertips from deep inside my mind.
