It was a chilly night at Camp Nashbrown. Camp Nashbrown was in the middle of a burned down forest. You could hear the waves from the river crashing into the rocks by the shore. I was spending my summer at Camp Nashbrown like every summer, ever since I was seven years old. I had just entered my tiny cabin with my best friend Ivy after a long hike. As soon as I laid down on my ancient mattress, tons of black widow spiders started crawling out of my pillow cover.

I screamed so loud that you could hear my scream from miles away. I quickly jumped up and dashed out of the cabin, screaming like a mad woman. Ivy ran out to call Ms.McKnight, the camp leader, after killing all the black widow spiders with her new gold frisbee. Ms.Mcknight and the security guards went out to search for me while Ivy helped the kids at the camp change my bed covers. The security guards finally found me after a long two-hour search, sitting on top of the rocks by the edge of the river. I was in shock and couldn’t process anymore.

Ms.Mcknight took me to the camp nurse, so she could check for any spider bites. Luckily there weren’t any. I was furious and was desperate to find out who pulled this prank on me. That night I couldn’t fall asleep, all I could think about was who had the nerve to do this to me.

Ivy told me, “Everything is going to alright tomorrow and that I shouldn’t let this dumb prank stress me out.” I nodded and said, “You’re right, I won’t let this dumb prank ruin my summer break.”

The next morning when I was going to Breakfast I helped Catie, a blind girl at camp, walk to breakfast. She used a long White stick to help her get around. Last year I saw her texting on an iphone, so ever since then, I thought she was really weird and was pretending to be blind. Ivy and I decided to go on a hike after breakfast, so I packed my humongous bag. While we were hiking we talked about what’s high school going to be like and if we were going to be made fun of since we were going to be freshmen. We haven’t even hiked half of the trail and I already felt like my legs were going to break of any seconde. Ivy said, “Sandy I think we should take a break and drink some water.” I was really surprised that she said that because she's the type of person to run a 5k and not get tired.

I drank my icy cold Deer Park water and it felt amazing. We started walking again and all of a sudden I felt nausea and then I started throwing up! Ivy didn’t know what to do because there was no one around and she couldn’t get any signal in the woods. I tried to tell her to go call for help, but I couldn’t speak for some reason. Ivy started screaming, “Help! Help! Anyone?” Then I saw Catie walking in the woods without her white stick! I tried to point it out to Ivy put then I fainted!

The next day I woke up in the Hospital with familiar faces surrounding me. A familiar voice whispered in my ear, “It’s okay honey I’m here.” It was mom! When I saw her face all my pain went away and all I could think of was how glad I was to see her. My two younger brothers and my grandparents were also here to see me. My Hospital room was filled with Lilies, my favorite plant, and get well soon balloons.

The nurse came in and all my pain rushed back to me. She smiled and said, “How are you feeling sweetie?” I gave her a nervous smile and said in a shaky voice, “Better than before.” I wanted to ask her what happened to me and if I’m going to be alright, but I had a feeling the news wasn’t going to be so good. The nurse knew I was desperate to find out what happened, but she still didn’t tell me anything about the incident. She just checked my mouth and wrote some stuff on her Blue Sparkly clipboard. Then she talked to my mom outside and left.

Before I could ask my mom what happened she told me, “Honey you’re going to spending a few more days in the Hospital, so the nurses can make sure all the poison leaves

your body.” I shouted, “What do you mean poison!” and all of a sudden my voice came back to me. She said, “There was poison in the water you were drinking and you could've lost your voice because of it.” I was so mad that I could spit nails! Whoever was pulling these foolish pranks on me reached their limits! I wasn’t going to sit around and just let this happen, I’m going to go back to camp and find out who this is and when I do…

That night my brothers went back home with my grandparents and my mom slept on the small couch in my hospital room. I couldn’t fall asleep at all, so I talked to Ivy on the phone about what happened. She said, “Sandy don’t come back to camp, who knows what’s going to happen next. Maybe the next prank can take your life!” but I didn’t care because I was anxious to find out who had the nerve to do this to me and why they were doing it in the first place. I knew my mom wouldn’t let me go back to camp ever again, but I knew just the trick to convince her.

Three long days had gone by and I was free to leave the hospital. The night I got back home, I convinced mom to let me go back to camp. She finally said, “Yes, only if you be carefully and call me anytime you don’t feel safe.” I jumped and squeezed her to death! Two days after mom took me back to camp. When I arrived there was a huge crowd waiting for me and they had balloons and posters that said we missed you or welcome back Sandy! When I got out of the car Ivy hugged me and screamed, “I missed you so freaking much, it wasn’t the same without you!” I almost went deaf because she was so loud.

Everything was the same at camp like the fragrance of the flowers and the hot summer nights. The next morning I whispered to myself, “Sandy you are going to end this today no matter what” and I had the perfect plan to. When I was walking to breakfast with Ivy I didn’t see Caite and then it I remembered that I saw her walking without her white stick before I fainted. I told Ivy but she said, “It’s probably someone that just looked like her and plus why would she walk without her stick?” Ivy was right, but I was 110% sure it was Catie. I told Ivy, “What if she was pretending to be blind?” Ivy started laughing uncontrollably and said, “You’re kidding right? Why would someone waste their time faking to be blind since last year?” I honestly didn’t know what to say, so I changed the subject.

During breakfast, I remembered that I forgot my prescription I got from the doctor in my bag, so I jogged back to the cabin to get it. When I opened the door Catie was spraying my bedsheets with peanut butter spray and I was highly allergic to peanut butter! She jumped and looked me straight in the eye in shock. She was faking to be blind! I yelled,”It was you all along, wasn’t it?! Who do you think you are having the nerve to pull all these ridiculous pranks on me?” her hands started to shake. “You know you could've almost killed me!” I yelled, but then Catie said, “But i didn’t so..” did she actually just say that? I wanted to shove her head down the toilet! “First of all, you don’t have the right to be doing this in the first place and second of all, pretending to be blind, is that how bored you are with your life?” I shouted. Her face turned redder than a firetruck and then she took Ivy’s gold frisbee and smacked me in the head with it.

A few hours later I woke up in a cabin chained to the rocks. Then it all clicked to me, Catie kidnapped me! I started yelling, “Help! Help! Catie where are you?!” then I heard footprints coming towards me. I could barely see anything in the cave, it was pitch black. Someone said, “Well, well, look who's awake.” it was Catie. I cried, “What have I ever done to you?” she didn’t say anything instead she kicked my legs and turned on her flashlight. Then came the powerful chainsaw! I started screaming for my life and she said, “Any last words?” I begged her saying, “Catie please stop! I’ll do anything. Just don’t kill me!”, she turned of the chainsaw and said, “Anything?” I then quickly said, “yes, anything!” and then she smiled.

Catie left and came back a few hours late with an electric blue water bottle in her hand. She said, “You’re going to take this water bottle and wash your eyes with the liquid inside of it and remember you said, ‘I’ll do anything’!” I grabbed the water bottle and washed my eyes with the liquid inside. All of a sudden my eyes started to burn. It felt as though someone had poured scorching oil into my eyes, burning was the only sensation felt. A little while later, I was on the ground, unconscious and out of breath. ‘Sandy had fainted.’

The next morning I woke up and everything was pitch black. I opened my eyes, but I still couldn’t see anything. I started screaming and I heard my mom's voice, she said, “Sandy, my poor child I’m here” I calmed down after I heard her voice, but I still couldn't see anything, “Mom why can’t I see anything?” I asked nervously and she started crying and said, “Your eyes were washed with position, so now you lost your eyesight!” my heart started beating against my chest so hard and I couldn’t process anything. Why would I wash my eyes with poison and why can’t I remember what happened in the last few days?

My brain started flooding with questions as warm tears rolled down my eyes. Everything felt so different. I couldn’t tell who was in the room, what was next to me, or  who I was anymore. The police couldn’t find out who did this, so they shut the case. I got many visitors, but I couldn’t recognize half of them. The doctors said I might have a fifteen percent chance of getting my eyesight back. But at this point, my optimistic thoughts had diminished. Ivy tried to visit me as much as possible, hoping to cheer me up and give me hope, but nothing worked. I just wanted to find a rock big enough to crawl under, but I couldn’t because I COULDN’T SEE! One day someone came to visit me by the name of Ella. I didn’t know anyone named Ella, but the voice sounded like Catie’s. She gave lilies and said, “Wake up.”

It was June 28th, the official first day of summer break. That night I had the strangest dream where I got pranked by this “blind” girl who wasn’t really blind. Instead she turned me blind! I told mom about the dream while she was driving me to Camp Nashbrown.

She laughed and said, “Sandy, you have the most ridiculous dreams. Also, be careful at camp because I don’t want anything to happen to my little girl.”

I kissed her goodbye and then Ivy came running to me and said, “Quick, I picked the best cabin!” and that’s when I knew it was going to be the best summer yet.
