I don't know how I got here,

I heard a slight voice from afar.

Deep down, I knew that this wasn't good,

But further down, I felt it was good for my heart.

Her voice was frail, quiet and gentle.

She called out to me silently into

The midst of the jungle of my uncertainties,

The more I wanted to run away, the more her voice called me through.

She seemed to know the roads all too well,

As if she was its daily traveler,

My heart could not bear the pains of the burdens,

But her gentle voice pulled me up as those darker paths grew near.

Suddenly, she came to a halt, and came closer,

I screamed, "Stop already! Why are you taking me there?"

"Because I'm too tired of carrying your darkness for you!

It’s too much for just me to bear!

I know that this is what you asked me to do,

I know that you're too scared to look into the dark,

But, stop pushing all your burdens onto me!

I called you only now because I saw a slight spark!"

"That's impossible!" I exclaimed,

"How could that even be?"

"Open your eyes already," she said, "force them open and clearly see!"

"Back then, you were scared, alone, and young,

So, I picked up your heavy laden for you.

But now, I need to go far away from here lest I go mad in the black,

Now, you have other people to look out for you."

"You're not alone", she padded on my shoulder, as my tears fell,

"Now, they are going to be there for you.

"Tackle your burdens with the power of their love,

I promise you, it will pull you through."

"Where are you going now? Wait!

How am I supposed to deal with this without you?" I asked, with a nostalgic smile,

"I don't know where, sweetheart, but I feel I will only be gone for a short while.

I don't know what the future holds for us,

I don't know how long I will plan to stay away,

But for now, don't you worry, my love,

There won't be many days left for you in the gray."

"You'll come back to me if these people go?

You promise me that you won't leave me alone?"

As she walked away, she said, "You're a big girl now, act your age,

Stay strong and notice how much you've grown."

"Take some rest, and don't stay away too long", I said in my heart.

As that spark grew a little brighter.

Those footsteps made a clear path for me to get out,

And my heart leaped with mixed joy and grief, and now, it kind of feels much lighter.
