Different Light

I look for my reflection,
But it’s barely out of sight.
Singing with different inflection;
I’m done putting up a fight.

The one I am today,
Ain’t the one I wished to be.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way;
I’m in love with this brand new “me”.

I’ll no longer hide these scars;
Wear them proudly upon my skin.
Finally freeing these stars from jars;
I’m no longer afraid to win.

I found strength when I was weak,
And I found joy when I cried tears.
Even if it gets hard to speak,
I’m no longer afraid of my own fears.

I’ll go on and make mistakes;
Without being able to erase my past.
But even if my whole existence shakes,
I can say I’m free at last.

I look for my reflection,
And it’s barely out of sight.
I’m singing with different inflection,
And shinning with a different light.
