This poem is about being in love with someone who's focused on something, or someone else. It's about feeling helpless as even when we give our all, second-best it's all we'll know if we're hung up on a person who doesn't see us as a priority.

Skyscrapers and Buildings

Skyscrapers and buildings stand tall between us;
It’s a drawn line I am unable to cross.
She calls your name and just like that,
You go back to where she’s at.

You are there but you’re never here,
Validating my biggest fear.
The fear of not being enough;
Unlike her I’m not that tough.

If for a few hours I take you away,
You’ll always go home at the end of the day.
And even if I beg you to stay,
In this game I don’t have a say.

She’ll cover all your needs,
And you’ll follow every path she leads.
And though you say my heart won’t break,
We both know yours is hers to take.

She ought to give you fame and glory;
She’ll let you write a whole new story.
But she can’t touch you like I do,
And I won’t break your heart in two.

Skyscrapers and buildings stand tall between us;
It’s a drawn line I am unable to cross.
She seduces you with her golden throne,
And I’m left here all alone.
