I remember wanting to be a princess when I was little because I thought they were beautiful and they gave me confidence. So I wore a big poofy dress and sparkly eyeshadow everyday, hoping that one day I would become something beautiful.

I remember when I was ten years old and I wanted to be a nurse so I could help people. I told myself that I would be a hero, and everyone in my family was so proud of me for wanting that. So I payed close attention in my fifth grade science class, hoping that I would learn the simplicities.

But I try not to remember the first time I fell in love. I was only twelve and my heart began aching. So I told myself that I would never let a person become my happiness. I  made a promise to my heart that I would never get attached to anyone, no matter how pure they were.

And then one day love turned to like and like turned to nothing. And he became another acquaintance and I learned to move on.

But I met someone special. Someone that made me want to breathe. And today marked a year of me loving you.  I'm still thinking about the way you said my name the first time I had a conversation with you. Just like that, I became obsessed with the idea of you, like I had for everything else I wanted  in my life. I wore the clothes you did hoping that one day I would turn into your princess. I told everyone in my family about you and how you became my hero.

But at some point I had to grow up and realize that princesses weren't real and nurses aren't the ones who become a hero. So now, every time I close my eyes, I pray that when I grow older my love for you will fade and you will just be another phase.
