‘Precious girl’—

Remember me?

I think I am the girl you used to be.

The one who was sad and in pain,

The one who had gone slightly insane.

‘Precious girl’, I’m back after so many years,

Insecurity seems to follow you, it’s clear.

But you’re older and mature,

Don’t underestimate the things you’ve endured.

I’m here to haunt you and make you weak,

I’m here to inject the fear to even speak.

I’m leaving you empty—swimming in doubt,

I’m making things difficult to figure out.

‘Precious girl’, forgive me,

I tried to stay away;

But I feed off your weakness of having him away.

How will you handle?

What will you do?

I’m consuming the essence I once took from you.

Your child is growing and he’ll learn someday,

How easy it is to push his mother away.

Because “we” aren’t equipped to raise that child,

You’ve only pretended to for a while.

‘Precious girl’, destroy me and don’t let me interfere,

Everything you want you have the power to adhere.

Don’t stray from your roots—after happiness chase,

The woman in you—learn to embrace.
