Sheila and Shirley.

Sheila and Shirley, they’re munching up grass,

quietly waiting for the time to pass.

They eye up each other and what a surprise,

they both have a fleece that is well worth a prize.

Says Sheila to Shirley, “Your fleece is so white.

You are quite the dazzler when the sun it is bright.”

Shirley just nods, a reply to be thought of,

must be a compliment or at least sort of.

Your fleece is a wonder, it is ever so thick.”

Sheila is smiling so that’s done the trick.

They eye up each other, comparing their fleece,

taking no notice of the gaggling geese.

But far in the distance a bark breaks the peace,

Barney will shepherd them just like he’s police.

The farmer will clip them, their fleece will be shorn,

leaving them hairless and feeling forlorn.

They’ll go back to grazing, a coat they will lack

but it will not be long before it will grow back.

And then they’ll be preening a fleece once more deep,

Both Sheila and Shirley, the vainest of sheep.
